Ski Club

(Rates from April 1st 2008)

A private boat owners club, affiliated to British Water Ski (BWS) since
2000 (under previous name of Ribble Water Ski Club).

Operating on the tidal but freshwater (for approx 7 miles) stretch of
the River Ribble, often very sheltered with good water for riding and
skiing…and there are NO 10mph speed limits!

Club Membership Incorporates all the facilities of Preston Marina,
including;

All the benefits of being a member of BWS (5 magazines a year,
personal accident insurance, eligibility for Ski Boat Drivers Award and
all other ski and wakeboard related qualifications etc)

Storage afloat or ashore for TOURNAMENT TYPE BOATS only – must
have lifting points.*

Exclusive use of ski jetty in river
Showers and Changing Facilities
“The Waterfront Pub”
“The Boathouse Café”
Shock-Wave Equipment Pro-Shop
Boatyard repair facility.
Chandlery and Ski boat parts department

WHAT’S THE CATCH???

Well the only catch is the tidal nature of the river means that access
is strictly 3 hours per tide. There is a tide on approximately 90% of
days…and sometimes there are 2 tides available per day. Outside the
tide times, the lock gates are closed and there is absolutely no access
to the marina. The lock gate procedure is automatic and very simple.

Membership;

It costs £120 per year to register a boat with the club. This includes
a family membership to BWS (required).

Additionally £95 per month is charged for use of the above facilities.

We do not allow casual usage (i.e….turn up and launch facilities) as we
do not have a slipway into the marina, and there are no slipways on
the River Ribble.

Launching is by crane and costs £25 each way.* For every 6 months
booked and paid in advance, 2 free lifts are included. Lifting must be
pre-booked with 48 hours notice (no lifting on Sundays or Mondays).
Boats must have usable lifting points.

Trailer storage is available in the boatyard for £17.6 per month.
Trailers may be stacked so 48hrs notice is required to release any
given trailer

All boat drivers for skiing must take a BWS Ski Boat Drivers Award
course (SBDA) during their membership. This costs £40 per driver as a
one off fee and is done at the club.

All club activities are conducted under the code of practice of British
Water Ski and the conditions of the Yacht Harbour Association.
Membership is subject to these conditions.
